Notes to the Rhinestone by Sue Keogh
This is a wonderful story about Nudie Cohn and his former head tailor, Manuel Cuevas. Nudie was the man who created the fashion of rhinestones applied to clothing. He passed away, but Mr. Cuevas moved to Nashville, Tennessee, and opened a new shop. (Nudie and Gram Parsons to right)
The False Gems by Guy de Maupassant
Guy de Maupassant (1850-1893), pictured at right, was one of the greatest short-story writers of all time. His more than 200 tales demonstrate both his wit and cynicism. In "The False Gems", Maupassant presents us with a prostitute who uses her earnings to bring happiness to the man she loves--and provide for him in the event of catastrophe. (de Maupassant to right)
"The Flying Stars" from The Innocence of Father Brown by Gilbert K. Chesterton
Flambeau's story of how he took then lost the diamonds and Father Borwn innocently found them in the end. Ah, the detective. . .

Octopussy Cult Smuggles Diamonds
Promising parts, in a good performance by Bond, a good Bond girl, some decent starts, a lively cast, a fine script and some top locations were messed up by overt and unfunny gags which took away just what a film needs: Tension and credibility.
