2.0 INTRODUCTION and TERMS OF REFERENCE
The writer has been retained by 3929311 Canada Inc., of Ottawa, Ontario, to prepare an independent geological report on its diamond exploration properties (the Properties) that are comprised of 254 noncontiguous mining claims in 14 separate groups, with a total surface area of 15,065.07 hectares. All claims are located in Pontiac County in western Quebec. 3929311 Canada Inc. is in the process of merging with Leitrim Group Inc., and this report will be the qualifying report used by Leitrim Group Inc. as part of its Qualifying Transaction.
This area has historically been the subject of only minor mineral exploration activity and has been essentially ignored during the major diamond exploration campaigns within Canada to date. However, as detailed in this report, there is substantial justification, both conceptual and practical, to support the argument that in-situ diamondiferous rocks may occur within the subject Properties, and that further exploration designed to discover the location of those rocks, is justified.
This report is based upon the following sources of information:
1) Geochemical sampling data generated by the following parties: Mr.Desmond Burke, Bryson-Burke Resources Inc., Monopros Ltd., Watts, Griffis, McOuat Ltd., Garde Exploration Inc., Consorminex Inc., Ressources Dianor Inc., and Ecudor Mining Inc.;
2) Geological, geophysical, and geomorphological interpretations generated by Dr. Viktor Gouchtchine and Dr. Valerie Ivanikov of the Russian Diamond Institute and the University of St. Petersburg, Russia while under contract to Bryson-Burke Resources Ltd;
3) Federal aero-magnetic survey, and property magnetic surveys carried out by Bryson-Burke
Resources Inc. and Garde Exploration Inc.
4) All past recorded work pertaining to the property area that is documented in the files of the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources;
5) Federal and provincial geological reports and articles pertaining to this area and to this type of geological setting;
6) Meetings with Mr. Desmond Burke that included discussions regarding sampling and analytical methodologies and the chronology of previous exploration activities, a review of documents pertaining to previous exploration activities and now in the possession of Mr. Burke, confirmation
of the existence of heavy-mineral concentrate samples retained from previous sampling programs in the area of the Properties, and
7) A property visit conducted on January 30, 2002, during which, in addition to an examination of access routes, principal anomalous sample sites and previous drillhole locations, the overall relationship between topography, drainage, and heavy-mineral distribution was assessed. A brief examination of a mafic dike outcrop was also carried out, but in general, examination of bedrock was impeded by snow cover.
It should be noted that although the author believes Mr. Burke to be technically competent, in the context of National Instrument 43-101, Mr. Burke does not meet the definition of a “qualified person”. The present author can therefore not accept responsibility for the veracity of mineral identifications or geological interpretations made by Mr. Burke. The authors of all other indirect sources of information used in this report are believed to meet the definition of “qualified person”.
